A Time Traveler

·2 mins

Yesterday, we were catapulted straight back into the 2000s at the Markdorf Open Air by a bombastic performance from Jan Delay, Das Bo, Denyo, and the band Disko No. 1.

When Das Bo performed what is arguably the most iconic German hip-hop track of the 2000s – celebrating its 25th anniversary this week – the crowd was more than ready for Jan Delay.

Das Bo kicks things off with energy – hands up, vibes on!

If you know us, you’ll know we usually hang out in different musical genres. So forgive me if I call it hip-hop when it’s actually rap.

But it didn’t matter – it was one big party! Das Bo’s call for “Bass, Bass, we need Bass!” was definitely answered.

For me personally, the performance of Disko No. 1 was a true highlight. Not only was the “Freeze” moment an absolute blast, but Jan’s explanation of how he was searching for a disco band that works like a good DJ – just brilliant.

Jan Delay in full swing – Disco No. 1 delivering the funk.

The audience loved it, and so did we. In the end, neither the crowd nor the artists wanted it to stop. We only made our way out when security started clearing the square with barrier tape.

Shortly before the end, a true “time traveler” appeared – armed with a feature phone, he pushed his way to the front row. Just as quickly as he arrived, he vanished again.

The time traveler – somewhere between nostalgia and punk.

Markdorf Open Air has made its mark – we’re already looking forward to seeing what next year’s line-up brings.

What a night!

P.S.: The concert was a birthday gift from my wonderful wife Caro – thank you ❤️

Transparency note: We were not sponsored and paid for the tickets ourselves.
