Night Flea Market at Lake Hoki

·2 mins

Okay, social media can be good for something – I admit, a bit of a harsh opener.
Let me elaborate a little: My lovely wife recently stumbled upon a rather special event through social media – the night flea market in Hoßkirch at the Hoki-See. And well, flea markets are totally our thing.

Said and done – off to Hoßkirch! The lake is beautifully situated, offering plenty of natural shade thanks to the old trees, and definitely a refreshing atmosphere. The little kiosk next to it looked very inviting too.
But that wasn’t why we came.

Back to the flea market: it was well attended and felt very authentic, thanks to the fact that all the stalls were run by private sellers. Unfortunately, there weren’t any truly exciting photo opportunities at the market itself – but right outside on the parking lot, there were.

The glow of the past – captured in the evening light.

Since last summer, when I really got back into photography, classic cars of all kinds – whether it’s a car or a Vespa – have become a recurring subject for me.
It’s always exciting to try and isolate these old gems from their modern surroundings without making them feel like museum pieces. I believe these vehicles want to be photographed in their natural habitat – on the street. Or sometimes, on a parking lot.

Old-school shine between everyday sheet metal.

As the sun slowly dipped below the horizon in rich golden tones, we made our way home.
We didn’t buy anything – but we took a ton of impressions with us.
